Monument size guide

Understanding the proportions of each memorial style.

All measurements are in inches. We’ll help you choose a size that fits the cemetery’s guidelines, your family’s wishes, and the inscription you have in mind.

Single Upright

Common sizes: 20 × 6 × 20 on a 32 × 12 × 6 base, or 24 × 6 × 24 on a 36 × 12 × 6 base.

The first three measurements describe the upright stone: width × thickness × height. The base is wider and supports the memorial beneath.

Companion Memorial

Common widths range from 30 to 72 inches, often with a 42 to 96 inch granite base.

Companion monuments are made for two names and a shared story. Wider sizes allow more space for lettering, emblems, and personalized artwork.

Flat Marker

Common sizes: 24, 30, 36, 42, or 48 inches wide × 12 inches deep × 4 inches thick.

A flat marker sits level with the grass. The width is selected for a single name or companion memorial, while the depth and thickness remain consistent.

Bevel Marker

Common sizes: 24 × 12 × 6–12 for a single name, or 36–48 × 12 × 8–12 for companion memorials.

Bevel markers rise gently from the grass, giving the inscription a more readable angle while keeping a low profile.

Slant Marker

Common sizes: 24, 30, 36, 42, or 48 inches wide × 10 inches thick × 16 inches high.

Slants are designed to be easily read from a standing position and may be installed directly on the foundation or paired with a granite base.
